Shumeng Li (b. 1998, Quanzhou, China) lives and works in Paris, France.

Sound was her starting point as an artistic medium, and composition continues to shape the way she develops ideas, structures time, and constructs relationships between image, space, and perception.

From an international perspective, she examines China’s urban and industrial transformation, with particular attention to the changing architectures, modes of production, and everyday landscapes of her native Fujian. Her work explores how technological and social change reshape collective memory, local identities, and experiences of place, often revealing the solitude, resilience, and cultural specificity that emerge during periods of transition.

Li graduated from the École nationale supérieure d’arts de Paris-Cergy (ENSAPC) and completed the FAME postgraduate program at the Beaux-Arts de Paris. Her practice has also developed through research at the École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay and studies at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London.
